Ciryl Gane rose to 10-0 at UFC 265 with a dominating victory over Derrick Lewis to become the new interim heavyweight champion and that performance made him the favorite to beat Francis Ngannou.
The first odds for the heavyweight title unification fight have been released, with Gane now slightly favored ahead of Ngannou for the inevitable showdown between former training partners turned rivals.
According to odds makers at SportsBetting.ag, Gane went from underdog to favorite due to his victory over Lewis where he stopped “The Black Beast” with a flurry of strikes in the third round.
Here are the opening odds of the fight:
François Ngannou +110
Ciryl Gane -130
This means that a $ 100 bet on Ngannou would currently pay $ 110 if he came away victorious while it would take a $ 130 bet on Gane to get $ 100 back on him.
When the odds for a potential fight between them were first released in June, Ngannou was installed as a big favorite in betting at -190 odds and even until last week he was still sitting around – 175.
Now, thanks to Gane’s impressive performance to win the interim heavyweight title with his victory over Lewis, he’s actually preferred to beat Ngannou and become the undisputed UFC champion.
As of yet, it’s unclear how quickly Ngannou vs. Gane will be booked, although UFC President Dana White said on Saturday night that he would like to set up the fight “as soon as possible” once. the two fighters will be ready to face each other.
