CNN presenter Chris Cuomo has accused Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, R. of holding the country “hostage” because of the way he has handled the COVID-19 pandemic.
DeSantis signed an executive order on Friday to make the wearing of masks optional in the state public schools, perhaps an unsurprising decision for those who followed the governor’s leadership on schools during the pandemic. In-person learning in Florida has been in place since October 2020.
His order came on the heels of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s new orientation for K-12 schools recommending universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff and students whether or not they have received the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine has been shown to be very effective against the virus and, to varying degrees, against the new delta variant.
Cuomo, one of CNN’s liberal anchor points, has suggested that DeSantis’ behavior is preventing the United States from beating the pandemic once and for all.
“The question becomes a political perspective, it’s how long do you allow the majority of this country, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, South, North, the majority of every group and demographic that we have, to get vaccinated,” how long do you allow them to be held hostage in states, say, like florida, where the governor says, ‘yes i know this is blowing i’m going the other way, don’t falcon my florida , no mask warrant, “I’ll let the parents decide,” Cuomo asked on “Cuomo Prime Time” during his interview with Admiral Brett Giroir on Friday night. “Where is this message going to take you?” ”
CNN’s CHRIS CUOMO SCORED AFTER SAYING FLORIDA GOV. DESANTIS “ABUSED” PANDEMIC
New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz said given that Cuomo broke quarantine last year, CNN anchor is probably not the best authority to target slingshots on the governor of Sunshine State. Cuomo sadly emerged from his basement on CNN last April, claiming it was his ‘official re-entry’ to the outside world since getting COVID, but later admitted he had been involved in an altercation outside his second property, the one in which he had not been quarantined.
“Chris Cuomo broke quarantine when he was actually sick with COVID, regardless of who else he infected,” Markowicz said in a statement to Fox News.
Markowicz added that the anchor’s full brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, oversaw a seemingly worse COVID outbreak by comparing states’ populations.
“Her brother’s state has 2 million fewer people than Florida, but 15,000 more COVID deaths as NY kept schools closed and small businesses collapsed. ”
“Maybe the Cuomos should take a break before telling us how we should deal with COVID,” she added.
RON DESANTIS BLASTS CBS ’60 MINUTES ‘FOR A PUBLIX-COVID CLIP’ DECEPTIVELY EDITED: A ‘POLITICAL NARRATIVE’
Fox News contributor Joe Concha agreed Cuomo should ‘recuse himself’ from criticizing DeSantis leadership not only because he broke quarantine and New York has struggled heavily under COVID under Governor Cuomo, but also because of reports that the governor and his family benefited by gaining early access to COVID testing before other New Yorkers.
“Chris Cuomo should recuse himself from commenting on the actions of another governor regarding COVID,” Concha said in a statement to Fox News. “This is the same guy who was tested before anyone in New York City could do when the pandemic started, thanks to his brother. The same guy who broke his own quarantine while shedding the virus. A police report was even filed against him after a verbal confrontation with a man in his sixties. ”
In addition to these scandals, Concha noted, is the series of sexual harassment allegations against the governor of New York. Cuomo said he would apologize if he made anyone “uncomfortable,” but denied any wrongdoing and rejected calls for his resignation.
“And Ron DeSantis has not been accused of sexual harassment by multiple staff members, like Governor Cuomo did. Chris Cuomo advised him on how to defeat these allegations, proving that he is not an anchor, but an activist, ”added Concha. “Take his opinion with a fraction of a grain of salt. ”
CHRIS CUOMO RETURNS TO CNN SHOW, KEEP SILENCE ON PRIORITY TEST SCANDAL THAT INVOLVES HIM
Receipts show that CNN’s Cuomo has been targeting DeSantis for over a year. Last July, he publicly asked why then-vice president Mike Pence praised DeSantis and accused the governor of “mismanaging” the pandemic.
The media seemed to agree that DeSantis deserved contempt last year for refusing to follow the lead of his liberal counterparts by locking down their states for months during the pandemic. Perhaps the most infamous example of the media’s particular contempt for him was when CBS’s “60 Minutes” aired a deceptive segment in April suggesting that the governor had given grocery chain Publix preferable treatment. to offer the coronavirus vaccine based on his donations to his PAC.
“They’re corporate media agents… Their political mission was to get me dirty, they thought they could do it, drive over and go to the next target,” DeSantis said in response to “ Fox and his friends. “But I have a platform, I have the capacity to fight back. We have done it, we will continue to do it. “

Critics argue that the media is focusing on Governor DeSantis because he is considered a frontrunner in the 2024 presidential election, with some calling the new phenomenon “DeSantis Derangement Syndrome”.
