According to a Facebook post from Ald. Rossana Rodríguez, Amazon’s delivery hub at Brands Park in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood “is clearly obstructing a public walkway” and will soon be removed.“Neighbors, our office was recently notified of a newly established Amazon delivery center in Brands Park that clearly obstructs a public walkway. We contacted the park who informed us that the hub was improperly installed and will be moved as soon as possible. We are also looking into the contractual relationship between Amazon and the Chicago Parks District because we do not believe that this is an appropriate use of public property. Thanks to our neighbors in the 33rd neighborhood who alerted us to this case, ”Rodríguez wrote in the post.
The Chicago Park District said in a statement that Amazon’s locker at Brands Park will be moved.
The Park District noted that, as part of a new partnership, Amazon Hub will install delivery lockers in city parks for convenience for the community.
“The locations will be dispersed throughout the city in neighborhood parks to provide this convenient convenience to area residents,” said a spokesperson for the park district. “These facilities are being placed as an additional offering to our park customers and members of the community. ”
