Bukayo Saka thanks Spurs fans for gesture in North London derby – .




Arsenal star Bukayo Saka took to social media on Sunday evening to send a thank you message to those who attended today’s North London Derby.

Mikel Arteta’s men were back this afternoon.

Amid the club’s efforts to speed up preparations for the new season, the Gunners traveled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, for a friendly clash.

Arsenal have embarked on proceedings in search of a morale-boosting outcome, having endured a thoroughly disappointing pre-season so far.

But ultimately in the capital, the woes of visitors only continued.

A lone goal, scored by Heung-min Son, proved enough to separate the longtime rivals at the final whistle.

After slipping through the impressive Japhet Tanganga just over ten minutes from time, Son superbly regained control, before kicking his left foot at the near post of Bernd Leno:

As noted above, however, in the midst of an otherwise disappointing afternoon for Arsenal on Sunday, there was, at one point, much to celebrate.

This happened under some quite surprising circumstances, when Bukayo Saka was introduced into the fray in the second half.

The occasion of course marked young Saka’s first appearance since his decisive penalty shootout failure at Euro 2020, which ultimately cost England a stroke of glory, and sparked a barrage of horrific racial abuse. directed against the wide man from Arsenal.

The importance of Saka’s return on Sunday, in turn, was obviously not lost on those at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with fans, home and away, giving the 19-year-old an enthusiastic welcome:
