Britney Spears under investigation for suspected battery

Sydney faces curfew and longer lockdown as the delta epidemic in Australia grows

Britney Spears is under investigation for alleged bodily harm after a member of staff at her home accused the singer of beating her, U.S. authorities have said.

Police attended Spears’ southern California home after the staff member reported the dispute Monday evening, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said. No one was hurt.

Reports collected by police would be turned over to prosecutors for review, the sheriff’s office said. No further details were given.

Spears’ attorney, Mathew Rosengart, said in an email that the investigation was “an exaggerated subject of sensational tabloid, nothing more than a” he said she said “about a cell phone, without keystrokes and obviously without any injury ”.

“Anyone can lay a charge, but it should have been closed immediately,” he said.

Spears has a home in Thousand Oaks, about 40 miles west of Los Angeles.

She hired Rosengart last month as she seeks to regain control of her 13-year life in a judicial wardship that has power over her money and affairs. She said during court hearings that the arrangement was “abusive”.

Rosengart has made it his first priority to remove his father, James Spears, from his role as conservator of his finances.

James Spears said in a court file last week that he planned to step down from his post, but gave no timeline.
