Boris Johnson has been spotted doing his own shopping in a supermarket – without wearing a mask.

The Prime Minister was pictured browsing an M&S in London hours after chairing a COBR meeting on the Afghan crisis.

He was seen walking the aisles of the Green Park supermarket and fled, but at no time was he seen with a face covering.

Mr Johnson was seen scratching his head as he looked at the chilled meats section and left with a carry bag full of goods.

The official advice is always that the government “waits and recommends that people wear face coverings in crowded and closed areas where you come into contact with people you don’t normally meet.”

When establishing new mask rules, which came into effect on July 19, Mr Johnson said: “I will obviously wear a mask in crowded places where you meet people you don’t know … just courtesy.”

It is not known how many other people were in the store at the time, but at least two other shoppers without masks have been seen.

This is not the first time the Prime Minister has been accused of taking his own face covering rules lightly.

He was seen being kicked out of Wembley after the Euro semi-final while not wearing a mask despite sharing the confined space with two people not from his household.

At the time, a spokesperson for Downing Street said it took a little while after the photo was taken.

The two men accompanying Mr Johnson wore masks, as did his wife Carrie – although her nose was sticking out.

The prime minister received a double blow, but this week scientists warned that the virus could spread among people who received the vaccine to a greater extent than previously thought.

A study from the University of Oxford found that jabs protect against disease, but those who have had them can still carry similar amounts of the virus in their respiratory system as people who have not.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

The 57-year-old has been on a mission to lose weight since he ended up in intensive care after contracting Covid-19.

Mr Johsnon blamed the severity of his condition on being ‘too fat’ and had previously spoken openly about his weight issues.

He is often seen jogging early in the morning and bragged about removing cheese from his diet.
