The lawsuit, filed Friday night on behalf of JC, now a 68-year-old woman living in Greenwich, Connecticut, alleges that Dylan, then 23 or 24, “exploited his status as a musician by grooming JC to gain his trust and to gain control over her as part of his plan to molest and sexually abuse her.

According to the complaint, Dylan made a “connection” with JC to “lower his inhibitions for the purpose of sexually abusing him, which he did, coupled with the supply of drugs, alcohol and threats of physical violence. , leaving her emotionally scarred and psychologically damaged to this day ”.

The lawsuit alleges that Dylan, named Robert Allen Zimmerman, abused the plaintiff on several occasions, some incidents having taken place at the famous Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan. JC seeks unspecified damages and a jury trial for allegations of assault, bodily harm, forcible confinement and emotional distress, the consequences of which have resulted in her seeing a doctor on several occasions.

A spokesperson for Dylan, now 80, told The Guardian on Monday that “the 56-year-old claim is false and will be vigorously defended.”

The trial comes on the last day of the New York State Child Victims Act retrospective window, which closed on Saturday, August 14. The measure had offered a reprieve to adults prevented from bringing civil proceedings for abuse suffered in their childhood.

Just last month, a Manhattan Supreme Court judge ruled in favor of Dylan in a lawsuit unrelated to profits from the $ 300 million sale of his songbook last year to Universal Music. .
