Men’s bronze match: Australia beats Slovenia 107-93
The Baby Boomers won their first Olympic medal in national history after 15 appearances today after Patty Mills had 42 points and 9 assists. While both teams shot well today, Australia forced Slovenia to commit 17 turnovers, including eight single-handedly by Luka Doncic, who scored 22 points.
Women’s bronze match: France avenges defeat in EuroBasket championship with 91-76 victory
The French women’s basketball team entered the Olympics as a EuroBasket finalist against Serbia. With this match, The Blue were able to take revenge by denying the Serbs a medal in the process.
After a hotly contested first half, and more specifically a 23-19 deficit in the first quarter, the French dominated the Serbs every quarter, in part thanks to a 51.9% shot out of three.
For France, Gabby Williams scored 17 points (including four to three), took 8 rebounds and delivered 4 assists. Seven French players scored in double digits. Yonne Anderson led Serbia with 24 points and Jelena Brooks added 14 more.
