Atlanta Falcons vs Tennessee Titans 08/13/21 NFL Picks, Odds, Predictions »Sports Chat Place – .

The Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans meet on Friday in a Week 1 NFL preseason game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Tennessee Titans have just finished an 11-5 season and are entering their fourth year under coach Mike Vrabel. The Atlanta Falcons finished 4-12 last season and will begin Arthur Smith’s coaching era.

The Tennessee Titans enter the offense in good form on the offensive end aside from an injury to new star receiver Julio Jones. We’re sure to get plenty from quarterbacks Logan Woodside and DeShone Kizer as they fight for the backup job. The Titans also have a battle in the right place to tackle Kendall Lamm and second-round pick Dillon Radunz. Defensively, it will be interesting to see how Caleb Farley views the cornerback position and whether Bud Dupree resolves rush passing issues. The Titans are also fighting for depth of safety with Matthias Farley and Dane Cruikshank. Overall, however, the Titans enter the preseason as one of the most balanced teams in the NFL.

The Atlanta Falcons need to make the most of the preseason with Smith and Dean Pees mixing up new schemes and systems. Matt Ryan is still the Falcons’ starting quarterback, but this game should feature plenty of AJ McCarron and Felipe Franks. It’s gonna be weird not seeing Jones wide receiver for the Falcons. It should be fun to see tight end Kyle Pitts in an NFL uniform for the first time and rookie Jalen Mayfield has a chance to land a starting position on the offensive line. Defensively, Richie Grant is likely to secure the starting position safely as a rookie and Mykal Walker is set for a big linebacking season in his second season. Fifth-round pick Ta’Quon Graham also has a chance to play a key role on the defensive line.

The Titans are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as road favorites. The Falcons are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 turf games and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games as a home underdog. The upper hand is 22-7-1 in the Titans’ last 30 games overall. The under is 5-2 in the Falcons’ last 7 games overall. The Titans are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games. The least is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

I’m just not excited about the Falcons as a team overall, and I’m definitely not excited that McCarron and Franks are getting a lot of reps in this competition. Woodside and Kizer have shown flashes at times throughout their careers and have played games like this before. The Titans are also the better team in terms of depth on both sides of the ball. I will be supporting the Titans in this near-choice contest.
