Ashley Judd is walking again, nearly six months after smashing her leg deep in a Congolese rainforest.
Judd posted a video on Instagram on Sunday of herself walking up a hill alone in a national park in the Swiss Alps.
“My leg and my foot worked wonderfully. I climbed a hill on uneven surfaces for an hour with confidence and descended carefully and easily, ”Judd said in the post.
Judd tripped over a log and broke his shin in several places while joining researchers in a nightly bonobo search. She said she had spent hours on the forest floor, biting a stick after screaming in pain. Several men brought her back to the camp in a hammock tied to a pole, then she was evacuated by motorbike onto dirt roads, with a driver behind the wheel and another man “holding the upper part of my broken shin together.”
The actress thanked her African colleagues, doctors, therapists, family and fans for their support in her recovery.
“My leg will never be the same again. She’s a new leg. And I love her. We are friends. We’ve come a long way and we have a fabulous life ahead of us, ”Judd wrote.
