Renee Paquette recently spoke about the differences between the way companies like WWE and All Elite Wrestling tell stories on their weekly shows. Paquette shared his belief on why the AEW method seems to be a little more popular.
Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast, Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, she explained how the world of All Elite Wrestling is becoming “layered and complex”. She argued that the same can’t be said for WWE.
“It’s so layered and so complex,” Paquette said. “And I think there are so many things you bite your teeth into as a wrestling fan, like waiting, that means this for this promotion and it means that in this promotion and yes the story.
“There are so many deep roots that make the storytelling really fun and engaging to watch, just to see this long game. And it’s something you never see in WWE.
Paquette then took some not-so-subtle WWE photos, as she hinted that the company used to treat its fans as “dumb” when it came to figuring out certain storylines.
” They [AEW] don’t call their fans stupid by telling them you don’t know what it is and we’re going to beat you in the head now to make sure you get it, ”Paquette said. “And I understand the reasoning as to why they’re doing that, obviously, but I think with smart fans and the way people have access to information that they might not know and can connect the dots with them. themselves, I think there’s something really cool about it, that people like to have that kind of sense of discovery rather than being talked about like they don’t understand how it works.
