Watch Kike Hernandez’s life-saving throw in Red Sox win over Athletics – .

The Boston Red Sox opened their three-game road streak against the Oakland Athletics in spectacular fashion Friday night.
The Sox held a 3-2 lead late in the 10th inning, with the Athletics having runners in the first and third without an out.

Track receiver Sean Murphy flew to center court and it looked deep enough for Seth Brown to score from third base to tie the game.

Brown ran but was absent at home plate thanks to an incredible throw from Red Sox outfielder Kiké Hernandez. Check out Hernandez’s missile in the video below:

The Red Sox held on for a 3-2 win that improved their record to 52-31 (most wins in the MLB) atop the American League East standings. Boston has now opened up a 4.5 game lead over the second-placed Tampa Bay Rays.

Hernandez didn’t just help the Red Sox with his glove on Friday night. He also put the Sox in the lead in the 10th inning with a single RBI.

Whether it’s providing hits, starting homers, great defensive play, or playing several different positions, Hernandez has been invaluable to the Red Sox over the past month.
