US men’s volleyball team take on France in Olympic opener – NBC Connecticut – .

The US men’s volleyball team started their Tokyo Olympic list with a dominant performance against France.

The USA team won in straight sets, going 25-18, 25-18, 25-22 in their first Pool B game. The USA team entered the Olympics. in 5th place in the ranking of the International Volleyball Federation, while France was in 4th place.

The United States were the strongest team from the start, winning the opening set with relative ease. France kept the second set tighter, remaining within two points until halfway through the set. The United States moved away and won another set 25-18.

The team closed France with a more contested third set. Despite a score of 25-22, France failed to make a serious blow to prevent the American team from winning in straight sets.

Matthew Anderson, who was competing in his third Olympics, had 13 points. Taylor Sander led the team with 15 points, while TJ DeFalco contributed 10.

As Team USA divided the score, it was Micah Christenson who facilitated the offense. The 28-year-old passer finished with 43 of the team’s 46 assists in the game.

With eight Olympians back on the roster, Team USA is looking to win a medal for the second consecutive Games and claim their first Olympic gold since 2008.

The next step for the Americans is a clash against the Russian Olympic Committee at 10:05 p.m. ET on Sunday. ROC won their first game against Argentina in four sets.
