Tour de France 2021 – “Injured, bruised, rebellious” – Michael Woods, Chris Froome’s teammate, had a “lucky” accident – .

Michael Woods (Israel Start-Up Nation) had a “lucky” accident during the 14th stage of the Tour de France.
The Canadian was in the breakaway when he hit the bridge in a descent 50 km from the race between Carcassonne and Quillan, slipping on the road as two riders were forced into an avoidance action.

The 34-year-old quickly got back on his bike and set off in pursuit of the leaders, cautiously approaching the corners as he sought to avoid a repeated mishap. He quickly clung to the leading group when the road stabilized.

“He’s getting away with that, I think it’s fair to say that,” Carlton Kirby said in the Eurosport commentary.

“Wounded, bruised but rebellious. I think it will be a lucky accident if you can possibly have such a thing. “

The day started off brilliantly for Woods, who climbed into the break and took the lead in the KOM standings.

Woods leads the ISN on the Tour while his teammate Chris Froome, quadruple French champion, accelerates his return as road captain.

“Not ideal at all, it just shows that the road surfaces in this part of the world are not shiny,” added Brian Smith of his accident.
