Tottenham are set to sign much-loved Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a first loan with an option to buy for € 15million (£ 13million). The deal would be the first for new Spurs football manager Fabio Paratici, who sees the 26-year-old as a perfect deal for the present and the future.
The initial deal is expected to be a loan for the 2021-22 season with an option to extend the loan or sign the goalkeeper. Discussions are still ongoing over a possible purchase obligation if Gollini achieves certain goals in his first season. Paratici is hoping the Italian will challenge Hugo Lloris for first place in Nuno Espírito Santo’s first season.
The goalkeeper, who spent two years at Manchester United academy between 2012 and 2014 before joining Verona and then Aston Villa, has been with the Italian national team for several years and is considered one of the best goalkeepers. from Serie A..
He also has extensive Champions League experience, having been a key member of the Atalanta squad which reached the knockout stage for the past two years under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini.
Another Atalanta player, center-back Cristian Romero, is also a target for Tottenham this summer but there is no deal yet between the two clubs for the Argentine.
