The victims included a nine-year-old while another young boy fought for life in hospital.
Scottish Police have confirmed officers responded to an incident in Pulpit Rock, Ardlui, after reports of concerns for people in the water last night.
Three people tragically died – a 29-year-old woman, a 41-year-old man and a nine-year-old boy – while a seven-year-old boy was rushed to hospital to fight for life .
This brings the total of tragic deaths in the water this weekend to five with Dean Irvine, 11, who drowned in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire yesterday and Connor Markward, 16, who lost his life in Loch Lomond on Friday .
A police statement read: “Police were called around 6:40 pm on Saturday July 24, 2021 following the report of concerns about people in the water near Pulpit Rock, Ardlui.
“A multi-agency operation took place and, unfortunately, three people were pronounced dead at the scene.
“Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of a 41-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy have been made aware.
“A 7 year old boy was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and is currently in intensive care.
“A full report will be submitted to the Tax Prosecutor. “
