Deadline has confirmed that the decision was made by UK distribution company Entertainment Film Distributors (EFD) and that the US release will go as planned on July 30.
We were told this decision was made due to the UK coronavirus situation, which currently appears precarious.
The country lifted virtually all restrictions on July 19, but that coincided with an increase in the Delta variant and the numbers moved closer to 50,000 per day, raising fears of another lockdown. As it stands, however, the cinemas are open for business and there is no immediate indication that they will be closed again.
EFD typically supports its UK releases with considerable marketing expense. The country is also in the middle of a heatwave which tends to impact revenues.
Deadline contacted EFD for comment.
