And rates of Covid-19 cases and deaths over the past week are more than twice as high among states that have vaccinated less than half of their residents, on average.

Current hospitalizations, according to data from the US Department of Health and Human Services:

Daily rate of Covid-19 cases over the past week, according to data from Johns Hopkins University:

  • Average among states that have vaccinated less than half of the population: 23.7 per 100,000 population
  • Average among states that have vaccinated more than half of the population: 9.3 per 100,000 population

Daily death rate from Covid-19 over the past week, according to data from Johns Hopkins University:

  • Average among states that have vaccinated less than half of the population: 129 per 1 million population
  • Average among states that have vaccinated more than half of the population: 55 per 1 million inhabitants

Vermont has the highest vaccination rate (over 67% fully vaccinated) and the current lowest Covid-19 hospitalization rate (less than 1 per 100,000 population). Meanwhile, Florida has the highest current Covid-19 hospitalization rate – around 38 people hospitalized per 100,000 population, and less than 49% of the state’s population is fully vaccinated.
