He was taken to a south London hospital for treatment for a head injury, which was not believed to be life threatening.
An eyewitness tweeted: ‘I just witnessed a horrible stabbing by a poor 60 year old man in Oxford Circus.

“Her family probably doesn’t even know about it yet.
“I pray to God that he will come out of this hospital. “
“Use an alternative route.
“Traffic is moderate during the diversion. Expect some delay. “
Images shared on social media show London buses lined up in all directions as the incident continues.
One person tweeted: “What the hell is going on at Oxford Circus ?!
