18-year-old Camavinga is one of the midfielders currently being considered by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he assesses a potential move this summer.
The France international is out of Ligue 1 next summer and is reportedly available for £ 25.7million in the current transfer window.
Rennes president Nicolas Holveck told French radio RMC that discussions were still ongoing over the teenager’s future, but admitted the club could lose the player this summer.
“Discussions are still ongoing, everything is open, either for a departure during this transfer window – if an offer satisfies everyone – or to extend (his contract),” said Holveck.
“He won’t be leaving on the cheap, we’ve had a lot of talk but nothing is complete one way or another. “
Interest in Camavinga is being sparked by his representatives at the Stellar Agency, now that he has only one year left on his current contract.
Declan Rice is said to be United’s favorite target as he has a proven track record in the Premier League and turned down the offer of a new contract with West Ham earlier this month.
If United opted for Camavinga, they could face a challenge for his signing as Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested.
Camavinga has been selected four times by France but missed a place in their European Championship squad. He was named to the France squad for this month’s Olympics in Tokyo, but was later omitted from the updated roster.
