Raptors could sue FRG Jarrett Allen – .

Cavaliers centre Jarrett Allen, a restricted free agent this summer, could be a target for the Guys, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, who says Toronto should be one of Allen’s “strong” contenders. The Raptors clearly need an upgrade to fifth place.
Charania learns that the Cavaliers and Allen are both interested in a long-term deal, so the Raptors may have to pay too much if they hope to get 23-year-old Allen away from Cleveland. Charania notes that Toronto has previously attempted to trade for Allen.

Raptors could create more than $ 25 million in cap this summer to make Allen a run, but that would force the team to give up Kyle Lowry and probably give up Chris Boucher.

After being distributed to Cleveland courtesy of the Nets at the start of the 2020/21 season as part of the exchange that sent All-Star James Harden in Brooklyn, Allen thrived with the underachieving Cavaliers. He averages 13.2 PPG, 9.9 RPG, and 1.4 BPG over 51 contests.

Having left the veterans Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol are leaving for both Los Angeles teams in the 2020 offseason, the Raptors pivoted by adding Aron Baynes and Alex Len to consolidate the environment. Len was finally lifted. When Baynes proved to be overloaded, the Raptors opted for small-ball lineups with Boucher frequently playing in the center.
