Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has no illusions about the importance of the summer transfer window, having made huge additions to his squad during his tenure.
The Norwegian is now in his third summer as boss and knows the pressure is on after finishing second behind local rivals Manchester City last season and being trophyless again.
With a deal already made for longtime target Jadon Sancho, many names have popped up frequently and as part of the one to come next.
Due to the protests towards the end of the last term, the Glazer family and outgoing Executive Vice President Ed Woodward know they need to sign big signings this summer to keep fans happy.

Varane brings the edges together
United are on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Raphael Varane ahead of his imminent transfer from Real Madrid, according to our colleagues at the Manchester Evening News.
The French defender, 28, is getting closer to Old Trafford after 10 years at the Santiago Bernabeu, where he won four Champions League titles and three La Liga crowns.
MEN reports that an agreement on personal conditions is “not far away” before a summer move, with Varane apparently keen to take on a new challenge.
Varane is currently on vacation with his family after playing for France at the Euro, but would be relaxed before what he hopes will be a successful conclusion to one of the summer’s transfer sagas.
United are hoping to pay around £ 50million for the defender’s signing, with the deal following the £ 73million decision they made for Jadon Sancho earlier this month.
Exchange deal with Real Madrid discussed
In a bid to lower the asking price at Real, United are said to be willing to include Donny van de Beek or Paul Pogba in a possible swap deal.
According to The transfer window podcast (via the Daily Express), the two actors are eager to move to Berabeu.
Pogba has never hidden this fact, as Los Blancos loved Van de Beek before he joined United from Ajax last summer.
The Dutchman failed to make a home at Old Trafford, however, and has been tipped for an immediate exit this summer, while talks about Pogba’s future have been much calmer than usual after regaining a good form last season.
Lingard is about to leave for good
Jesse Lingard could leave United for West Ham for good this summer, although it is believed he will need an offer of around £ 30million to get him out of Old Trafford.
Lingard shone on his midseason loan in east London, scoring nine goals in 16 Premier League appearances and sending them back to qualifying for the Europa League.
The Hammers are said to be desperate to make him a regular on their side, suggesting they will pay the hefty price United is asking for.
“We’ll do whatever it takes to sign him,” a senior West Ham source told Sky Sports. “He was exceptional for us. ”
