Raphael Varane has reportedly given Manchester United his word that he will join the transfer window this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made signing a striker and center-back his priority this month and has already struck a deal with Jadon Sancho for £ 73million.

His attention is now firmly on Varane, who he believes can bolster Manchester United’s defense and provide him with what he needs to win the Premier League in the coming season.

Varane is at the end of his contract at Real Madrid next summer and has no plans to sign a new contract with the La Liga club.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Varane is so eager to join Man United that he gave them his word that he would sign on the dotted line.

ABC Sports adds that the defender has also already agreed on personal terms with Solskjaer and co. and that now it’s just the two clubs shaking hands over a prize.

If Manchester United manage to make a transfer for Varane, a club legend will want credit for his part in the deal.

Rio Ferdinand delighted his Instagram followers this week by revealing in a Q&A that he spoke to the France international and encouraged him to join Man United.

Ferdinand posted in response to a fan suggesting he talk to Varane: “It’s already done. Agent Ferdy. “
