The younger generation of the royal family have reportedly remained close, despite Harry and his wife Meghan moving to America.
Harry’s memoir is part of a lucrative four-book deal, one of which won’t be published until after the Queen’s death, it has been claimed.
The Duke of Sussex’s announcement this week that he had written a memoir on life in the royal family is just the “tip of the iceberg”, according to industry insiders.
Following a bidding war between the publishing houses, the final figure is believed to have reached £ 29million after a reported starting point of £ 18million, set by Harry himself.
The first book, announced Wednesday, is due out by Penguin Random House next year, coinciding with Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Eugenie was reportedly stunned by the Duke’s deal, having apparently been the only member of the royal family to have had a close relationship with the Sussexes.
A member of the royal family reportedly told the Daily Mail: “The emotional turmoil as they wait over a year for publication is going to be torture.
“What is really telling is that even the loved ones he remains closest to, like Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, are stunned by what he does. “
They are also believed to be worried about how his father Charles and his wife Camilla will be portrayed in the book.
The source added: ‘Let’s be honest Harry has never been close to the Duchess of Cornwall. If he documents their strained relationship in the book, it could be very damaging as Charles sets the stage for her to become Queen. ”
Royal author Robert Jobson has criticized Prince Harry for “not giving a damn” about his family’s feelings and accused him of playing with them.
Mr Jobson says it looks like Harry just doesn’t care – and the game is clear to see.
He said: “I think he seems slightly detached from the things he does because when he talks about the Queen he talks about a great affection and a great respect for her, and all these things.
“But almost overnight, something comes out like his latest project he’s been working on for many months with this nigger in America.
“So he obviously knows what he’s been up to and it’s almost like he’s playing a game with the Royal Family. “
He added: “I am intrigued [by the memoir], I can’t wait to read it.
“I think it’s going to have a huge impact on the royal family. Harry doesn’t give a damn about the feelings of his grandmother, brother or father. “
