Many shoppers are eager to return to Main Street from Monday, July 19 as the rules on masks and social distancing are lifted.

Buyers are always encouraged to wear masks where applicable

Manchester Evening News has contacted Primark to find out what rules will or will not apply after “Freedom Day”.

A Primark spokesperson said, “We want our customers and colleagues to continue to feel safe in our stores. While this will no longer be a legal requirement, we hope people will continue to think of others and wear a face covering if they can. .

“In all of our stores in England, we will continue to offer hand sanitizing stations, install Perspex screens in our checkouts and implement an enhanced cleaning program, to keep everyone safe. “

Other stores have taken a tougher stance on the rules, such as Waterstones, which has directly said they will always encourage the wearing of masks in their stores.

Waterstones said in a tweet: “After the restrictions are lifted on July 19 across England, we will follow new government guidelines.

“Given our closed boating environment, we encourage our customers to wear face masks and respect social distancing, respecting the safety of staff and other book enthusiasts. “
