he incident occurred on the N15 at Townparks, Lifford, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the accident at around 2:45 a.m.
A pedestrian (34) was transported from the scene by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
It is understood that the woman was struck by a white van which did not remain at the scene.
The van and its driver have yet to be located while investigating Gardaí.
Traffic diversions are in place and the area has been preserved for review by law enforcement officers and Garda Forensic Collision investigators.
The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for an autopsy.
Gardaí calls for witnesses and particularly calls on the driver of the van to come forward.
Gardaí investigators are also appealing to those who have video footage (including a dash cam) of the scene and along this route to make it available to them.
