CBS Sports has acquired the U.S. rights to the Scottish Premiership throughout the 2024/25 season, with the first games of the new deal scheduled to begin on Saturday, July 31, according to sources at World Soccer Talk. Some games will be available through CBS Sports Network and Paramount +, the streaming service which is at war with ESPN + to acquire as many football rights as possible for viewers in the United States.
The majority of selected matches broadcast will be broadcast on Paramount +. In addition to the Scottish Premiership, CBS Sports acquired the rights to the Scottish Championship and the Scottish League Cup (also known as the Premier Sports Cup). These games will also be broadcast on Paramount +.
CBS Sports and Paramount + continue to expand their arsenal of football rights. In the streaming wars, Paramount + competes with the giants Disney +, Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, Apple TV + and others in a race to acquire new subscribers.
Already this year, ESPN + acquired the exclusive rights to LaLiga in a deal where ESPN reportedly paid $ 1.4 billion for the games throughout the 2028/2029 season.
For Scottish football fans, the rights of the Scottish Premiership have rebounded more than any other league in the past decade.
