Expert panel in India recommends testing of Covid-19 vaccine mix

A committee of experts in India has recommended the government to start mixing trials of the Covaxin and Covishield vaccines in the country.
Experts from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) have recommended granting permission to mix doses of Covaxin and Covishield on “300 healthy volunteers” in India.
The committee explained that this study will help understand whether a person can achieve immunity against the coronavirus using two different vaccines.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, only about 10% of the Indian population is fully vaccinated.
The AstraZeneca-BioNTech vaccine – called Covishield – in India is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India. And Covaxin is made by Bharat Biotech in the country.
