Wimbledon 2021 Matchday 12 recap: Ash Barty claims second Grand Slam title
Watch all the action as Novak Djokovic takes on Matteo Berrettini in the men’s final at Wimbledon.
The defending champion knows that victory this afternoon will see him not only equaling Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s men’s Grand Slam record, but also bringing him closer to a Golden Slam. The world number one has lost just one set throughout the tournament, to Britain’s Jack Draper in the first round, and aims to retain the title for a third consecutive tournament. ” [Berrettini] is in great shape. He serves big, plays big, ”said Djokovic. “So it’s going to be a very difficult game I think for both of us. But I’m looking forward to a big battle.
Berrettini, who won the Queen’s Club championships before Wimbledon, was in great shape and beat Roger Federer’s conqueror Hubert Hurkacz in four sets in the previous round. The first Italian to reach the Wimbledon final, his serve has at times been unstoppable, already delivering over 100 aces in the tournament, and this weapon will be difficult even for Djokovic. “My first final at Wimbledon, it’s just crazy to think about it,” said Berrettini. “I think I never dreamed of this because it was too much for a dream. ” Follow all the live action below:
WIMBLEDON 2021 : DJOKOVIC 5-2 BERRETTINI
A beautiful game of service from Djokovic which, if it is not yet quite in its wake, is clearly the most relaxed. He holds at 15 and Berrettini will serve to stay in the first set.

WIMBLEDON 2021 : DJOKOVIC 4-2 BERRETTINI
An important catch for Berrettini whose first serve is much less reliable than in previous laps. His power is still able to force Djokovic’s mistakes, and the Serbian’s forehand sails for a long time.

WIMBLEDON 2021 : DJOKOVIC 4-1 BERRETTINI
Djokovic held the serve comfortably after another inexplicable miss from Berrettini at net, when virtually the entire pitch was at his mercy. The pressure will be back on the Italian’s serve now.

WIMBLEDON 2021 : DJOKOVIC 3-1 BERRETTINI
Djokovic breaks! Berrettini saves a breaking point with a huge serve, but Djokovic finds a way to control the Italian’s power, pulls him into longer base trades, and in those trades Berrettini is still clearly second best.

WIMBLEDON 2021 : DJOKOVIC 2-1 BERRETTINI
Another double fault from Djokovic! He’s 0-30 on serve when Berrettini misses a routine forehand to the net. This may be just the start of this final, but the Italian will regret the opportunity. Djokovic recovers, finds an ace to relieve the pressure and another big serve seals the hold.

WIMBLEDON 2021 : DJOKOVIC 1-1 BERRETTINI
A hesitant start from Berrettini as well, whose two errors left him at 30-30. But just when he needed his big serve, it’s true and this grip will help him shake some of his early nerves.

WIMBLEDON 2021 : DJOKOVIC 1-0 BERRETTINI
A very unusual start since Djokovic started with a double fault. At 0-15, he then produces a meager second serve of 77 mph which Berrettini manages to slip into the net. Straight mistakes ensue from every player before Djokovic doubles again! Berrettini has his first break point of the match but Djokovic manages to recover, finds his serve and ends a very shaky first match.
