Nike's unofficial Star Wars sneakers

There’s one thing Nike does sometimes where, despite not having an official license to make a branded shoe, they just pick a very obvious color scheme, let fans give them a nickname, and run with it anyway. He worked on everything from Doraemon at Gundam, and next month he takes Star wars.

This is one of my all-time favorite sneakers, the Presto Mid Utility (better known lately for his Acronym collaborations), dressed in a colourway officially known as “Carbon Green / Black-Ghost-Pollen”, but which has already and predictably been labeled the “Boba Fett”. But it is not the only one. There are actually three pairs in this upcoming line, all using the same shoe and all inspired by… this scene in The Empire Strikes Back when does Vader have all the bounty hunters lined up?

The second pair, above, are “Dark Vaders” (all black is usually a winner, but that silver heel can be a bit too much), while the third, below and potentially even prettier than the Boba Fetts, is already known as “Bossk”:

Note that Nike does not have the Star wars Licence. Adidas does, and they’ve spent the last few years releasing some over-branded, cheesy-like shit that looks only marketed for 9 year olds and the Simpsons comic book guy. by Nike shoes here are just, for legal purposes, a collection of sneakers that all have very specific themes and colors in common.

For Nike to come out like this and launch a whole range of Star wars-inspired shoes, just at a time when Adidas’ efforts have been ridiculed by sneakerheads, are certainly more than just a tribute, it feels like a declaration.

All three pairs are slated for release in November 2021, and being general release shoes might actually be pretty easy to get your hands on!
