Like clockwork, Mr. Trump put on a show by donating his salary, including cutting a check with his signature in bold print. In February 2018, then Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao accepted the check in the White House briefing room. In March of the same year, Mr. Trump bragged about the donations, calling them “a lot of money.”
But like Le Washington Post reported on Friday, it is not known whether the money continued to flow after the Trump administration ended.
“Trump’s White House has never said where – or even if – he donated the last $ 220,000 of his salary, covering the last six months of 2020 and the first 20 days of 2021,” reported the post David Fahrenthold, who has scrupulously followed Mr. Trump’s personal and professional finances.
Mr. Trump’s last donation, according to the report, was made to the National Parks Service on July 23, 2020.
It is not known if Mr. Trump opened his wallet after this. More than a dozen federal agencies had not asked if they had received a final gift. Spokesmen for Mr. Trump have vowed to return to the Poster on the matter, but did not follow up.
Mr. Trump is not the type to let a good deed go unnoticed, so it seems unlikely that he will quietly donate to a federal agency. And, as the Poster, reported, Mr. Trump still receives a government pension – which the former president did not pledge to donate.
