More month-long road closures announced as repairs to Lincoln Pelham Bridge continue – .

Road bosses are taking advantage of the closure of the Pelham Bridge in Lincoln to carry out roadwork on Canwick Road as part of nightly closures lasting four weeks.
The Pelham Bridge is closed for 10 weeks of repairs on Sunday, June 6, resulting in increased delays in the city center.

Now Lincolnshire County Council has announced it will close Canwick Road between 6.30 p.m. and 6 a.m. for four weeks starting Monday July 26.

The closure is aimed at completely resurfacing the road between South Park Avenue and Pelham Bridge.

During these evenings the detour route to Pelham Bridge will change.

Northbound traffic will instead be diverted along South Park Avenue, then along High Street to reach Tentercroft Street and cross University Bridge as now.

Southbound traffic will be diverted from Tentercroft Street to High Street and along South Park Avenue to Canwick Road.

Access to Great Northern Terrace, Kesteven Street and the shops there – including the Tesco store – will be from Tentercroft Street / East West Link Road.

Councilor Richard Davies, executive member of Lincolnshire County Council Motorways, said: ‘This section of Canwick Road needs to be redone and work done overnight – and while the Pelham Bridge is still being repaired – that will mean less impact on local residents and businesses. .

“Resurfacing jobs like this are the best way for us to keep our roads safe and prevent potholes and other defects from forming.

“We have just committed an additional £ 10million in our road budget to fund more maintenance programs like this. This additional investment will mainly be used to bring more B roads and unclassified roads up to standard. “
