Manchester United have reportedly started talks with Real Madrid over a deal to bring defender Raphael Varane to Old Trafford this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to bring in a new center to play alongside Harry Maguire as the Red Devils look to meet a challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Victor Lindelof has been Maguire’s regular partner in recent seasons, but United’s heart of defense remains an area where there is room for improvement if they have to fight for top honors again.

Varane appears to be United’s No.1 target and has less than a year left on his contract with Real. The Spanish club run the risk of losing the player for free next summer if they don’t take advantage of the 28-year-old center-back this year.
However, Real seem reluctant to lose Varane after also allowing Sergio Ramos to leave the club for a free transfer earlier this summer.
Sportsmail revealed earlier this month that the Red Devils are set to make an official offer to the La Liga giants regarding their French center-back after being assured the player wants to move to Old Trafford.
Now according to Fabrice RomanoUnited have already been in talks with Real for a week as they try to reach a deal.
It is claimed that Varane is keen to move to the Premier League but respects Real’s desire to keep him and will do nothing to damage his relationship with the Spanish giants.

Sportsmail revealed that Real’s £ 50million valuation for a player with one year left on contract is still considered too high by United.
Varane has been at Real for a decade, winning three La Liga titles, four Champions League trophies and four FIFA Club World Cups with the Spanish giants, for whom he has played 359 times since his debut.
The France international is yet to return in the pre-season for the La Liga giants, who are now led by former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti after Zinedine Zidane left at the end of last season.
Varane returns late to Real training due to his efforts for France at Euro 2020 this summer, which saw the Blues come out in the round of 16 after their loss to Switzerland on penalties.
Manchester United have also accepted the signing of £ 73million from Borussia Dortmund and England winger Jadon Sancho this summer.
