Emergency services were called to report a man was struck by a car on Lodge Lane at the Riston Street junction in Toxteth at 6:38 p.m. on Friday July 2.
After police arrived at the scene at 6:42 p.m., they found a man unconscious with a head injury after being run over by a car driving away from the incident. The driver stopped nearby and spoke to the officers.

The man came shortly before the North West Ambulance Services arrived and they took him to Liverpool Royal Hospital for observation.
His injuries are not considered life threatening.
The road has been closed in both directions since police arrived at the scene so they could conduct investigative work.
The road is expected to be reopened by Merseyside Police within the next hour.
Travel site INTRIX said traffic was slow due to the shutdown.
