Those wishing to get to Duke Point will have to wait until Friday, as all Thursday crossings are sold out.
There is little room left for the last trip from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay. Thursday afternoon saw a peak wait of seven sails.
Deborah Marshall of BC Ferries believes the additional ferry traffic may be due to people avoiding travel to the central Okanagan, with a travel advisory issued for that region due to concerns over COVID-19 .
“We anticipate that there might be people planning to go inside for the long weekend and they will change their plans and maybe come to Vancouver Island,” said Deborah Marshall. from BC Ferries.
“We are currently on a full summer schedule. We stepped up our service at the start of July, so we have a lot of additional crossings. But I would expect the sail to wait at peak times this weekend, ”she added.
