Jurgen Klopp gets what he wants as Liverpool seek the next big thing
As the dust began to settle on a memorable European Championship on Sunday night, Liverpool were slowly sliding into a new environment.
As England hosted Italy in the final at Wembley, Jurgen Klopp and his players were busy traveling to Austria to begin their first steps towards Manchester City’s Premier League title fight.
Liverpool were impressed with the caliber of facilities available to them in the same region last year and made the decision to forgo what has become the traditional period of local friendlies in favor of the start of the first day of pre -season on the continent.
In previous years, the Reds have played a handful of games in the Northwest before flying to the United States on a profitable tour that includes a number of eye-catching matches against top European and Premier League opponents.
It is believed that Liverpool are still hoping for such a home game next month as they prepare to reopen the doors of Anfield to the biggest crowd since March 2020.
For now, however, Klopp and his team have headed straight to European training camp while coronavirus restrictions are still largely in place.
