Neither player has played for the Reds since suffering long-term knee injuries in the first two months of last season.
The two were originally scheduled to miss tonight’s fixture against the Bundesliga squad ahead of a surprise update from Jurgen Klopp earlier this week.
For now, however, Ibrahima Konate continues to team up with Joel Matip at the center of defense as they build on a partnership that was struck in the first half of Friday’s 1-0 win over Mainz.
Kostas Tsimikas replaces Andy Robertson at left-back and Caoimhin Kelleher continues in Alisson Becker’s goal.
In midfield, Naby Keita is once again given the opportunity to impress from the start alongside captain James Milner and Harvey Elliott, who continues to be selected at center of the park this summer.
Divock Origi will not be involved thanks to a minor injury, while Xherdan Shaqiri is also out as speculation about his future continues to grow amid interest from elsewhere.
Thiago Alcantara only joined the squad on Wednesday and is not involved tonight.
