Lions forced into late squad change as Wyn Jones retires – .

Lions mainstay Wyn Jones was forced out of today’s first test against South Africa in a blow to Warren Gatland’s side.
The loosehead pillar suffers from shoulder pain and was replaced in the starting XV by Rory Sutherland. Mako Vunipola enters the bench.

Jones suffered a shoulder injury against South Africa A 10 days ago but was declared fit for the game.

“It’s really bad luck for Wyn and we all feel he missed tonight’s game,” said Warren Gatland.

“However, we are confident he will be back in training next week and have no plans to bring anyone else in at this point. ”

The Welshman had impressed with his scrum performance in that game as well as his overall contribution on the pitch.

Sutherland, however, was in good shape during the tour.
