Lewis Hamilton wants ‘best teammate’ Valtteri Bottas left alone – .

Lewis Hamilton says Valtteri Bottas is the best teammate he’s ever had and wants people to leave the Finn alone.
The Mercedes range is the oldest duo on the grid, the two driving side by side since bottas I replaced Nico Rosberg in 2017.

There have been more calls than ever this season for the partnership to end, with many believing Bottas is not performing well enough and that George Russell should replace him.

Hamilton disagrees, saying the criticism is unfair and the pair are the top performers on the grid.

“Knowing my relationship with Valtteri makes him a great teammate. I’ve always said that, ”he said according to motorsport-total.com.

“And to be honest, I feel like we currently have the best couple in terms of team balance and knowledge of how we can develop our car.

“At some point, that will change. I won’t be here forever, and neither will Valtteri. But for now, I think we’ve done well over the years and we can do it, we will continue to do it.

“Sometimes people have to leave him alone so that he can concentrate on his work. “

Before Bottas became his teammate, Hamilton had clashed several times with those who shared a garage, on and off the track.

The relationship between him and Fernando Alonso in 2007 was not ideal, nor was that with Nico Rosberg towards the end of their time together at Mercedes as they contested for the titles.

There have never been such problems with Bottas since replacing the German, and largely because of that, Hamilton believes he is the best teammate he has ever had.

“We will continue to work together as a team, as we have been doing for many years,” added the seven-time world champion.

“I’ve always said that overall Valtteri is the best teammate I’ve ever had. And when I say that, I mean not only the performance but also the morale of the team and the way we work together in the environment.

“We will continue to try to improve our communication and I hope we will get even better at these things in the future. “
