Interesting facts about the Tour de France

Follow all the latest updates from stage 20 of the Tour de France today.

It is today that Tadej Pogacar won his second title on the Tour de France. The 22-year-old Slovenian is set to become the youngest rider in racing history to win the Tour twice. This afternoon’s stage is the second individual time trial, a perfect 30.8 kilometer course for Pogacar to extend his huge lead in the overall standings. He arrived with five minutes and 45 seconds ahead of second Jonas Vingegaard, a huge lead that he would keep provided he avoided any accident.

Pogacar won the first time trial of stage five with a remarkable show of strength, beating Vingegaard, Wout van Aert and TT specialist Stefan Kung. Can he do the same today to claim his fourth victory in this year’s race?

We are going to see the same contenders for victory. Pogacar and Vingegaard may have exhausted themselves in the high mountains, leaving an opportunity for Kung. But Van Aert has been calm the past few days, so he might just be the man to beat this afternoon.

Wilco Kelderman is fifth! Fifth! We barely mentioned him in this whole race and yet the Dutch rider is only three minutes from the podium before the final time trial.
He’s almost certainly going to lose time on Pogacar and Vingegaard today, but it was still a magnificent Tour for Kelderman and Bora-Hansgrohe, especially considering they lost Peter Sagan halfway through the race.
Kelderman walks down the ramp to launch his TT.
