In the past 24 hours, 855 more people in Lancashire have tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to Public Health England, Blackpool posted the biggest increase since yesterday (July 2), with 97 new positive tests.

Lancaster, which saw the largest increase yesterday, reported 91 more cases, the second highest in the county.

In the UK in total, 24,885 new cases of coronavirus have been reported, up from more than 27,000 yesterday.

Eleven of Lancashire’s 14 local authorities have registered at least 50 new cases since yesterday.

Fylde, Pendle and Wyre all reported less than 50 cases, with Fylde recording the smallest increase with 35 new cases.

Today’s total of 855 is down from the 971 announced yesterday and Wednesday’s high of 1,063.

The latest R rate for the Northwest was reported between 1.1 and 1.3m, compared to 1.2 and 1.4 the previous week.

It is believed to be lowest in eastern England, London and the northwest.
