After the game, Klopp spoke to Liverpoolfc.com. Read on for a full transcript …

On his record of the two matches …

It was training and it was good. Physically that was all we wanted to see, we had to do it and it was a big test for it. From a football point of view, obviously a lot of room for improvement; I saw a lot of wild pressing. We wanted a wild press, we had a little competition between the two teams to see who gets the ball the most and how many back presses we have. We will have to think about the prize that the team will win! The first game was obviously a very young team, Innsbruck did well and was obviously in a better time than us as they start next week with the league and we started last week with the pre-season so it’s different . But the kids did well in all situations, they lost a bit of organization here and there, that’s how it is. The second game was a tough test, Stuttgart are a very good team. We started very well and then conceded a goal. Then we came back more and more in the game and scored a very nice goal. I am very happy with it, everything is fine. I saw what I expected to see, actually – it would be weird if I stood here and said, ‘My god, I didn’t know we could play that kind of football’, but that suits me and now we continue to work.

On players occupying new positions in the games …

I don’t think Harvey ever played this role for us, but it looked good. Ox, you could see immediately in the first few minutes that this is an option, definitely. We’ll see how it goes. Ibou did really well and that’s what we expected, he looks really good in training. First game with all the young boys, they really showed in training but it’s different when you play a first team with all the kids together on the team. It’s tough, but no problem – life is tough and we have to give them the opportunity to test themselves in these kinds of matches. We do and now we continue.

On the question of whether Virgil van Dijk or Joe Gomez could appear on Friday against Mainz …

It would be a surprise, for me too. They looked really good in training and yesterday was the first day they did some really complex stuff, usually it’s either offensive or defensive and stuff like that. We have to get there, step by step, but I am not expecting them for Friday.
