Sancho gave Borussia Dortmund a long emotional farewell on social media. When it came to sending a message to his new club and acknowledging his decision, it was brief and sweet.Sancho’s instagram post garnered a lot of attention not only from fans but from his professional colleagues.
Dele Alli of Tottenham was among those to congratulate him, along with Ben Chilwell of Chelsea and Fikayo Tomori of AC Milan.
Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey also congratulated Sancho, while his new teammate, for now if he stays, Jesse Lingard has also welcomed him.
Former United prospect and former England Under-17 teammate Angel Gomes wrote that ‘red is pretty’ on Sancho. We do not disagree.
Sancho had much more to say
Sancho’s communication was not limited to five words. He had a lot to say in his first official interview as a Manchester United player.
Speaking to the club’s website, Sancho said he was excited about the team Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is building.
He said: “I can see the development going on here and I want to be a part of it, especially because it’s such an iconic club and being a part of it is kind of a dream come true. I’m sure my family will be proud that I take this big step.
Sancho explained that as the summer wore on, the long-awaited move came about quite quickly from his perspective.
He said: “To be fair, when I was at Dortmund I was just playing football and blocking out all the noise and focusing on what me and my team had to accomplish. Obviously when I was at Euro that’s when things started to get even better and I started to hear United were interested, and I’m here today.
To many fans, it didn’t seem real that Sancho signed, even though we knew he had since the July 1 deal, until the pictures were finally released on Friday afternoon, 23. days later.
The whole process has been an agonizing wait stretching back to last summer and even before that. But the reason we all wanted him so much is because he’s a supreme young talent who will be worth the wait.
It doesn’t have to come together instantly. There will be bumps on the road as with many young players, but Sancho has the talent and determination to face whatever comes and electrify Old Trafford this coming season and beyond.
