Jack Grealish talks open as Man Utd deal gets green light – .

Aston Villa are continuing their work in the summer transfer market following the signings of Emiliano Buendia and Ashley Young.
Villa broke his transfer record to land at Buendia from Norwich in a deal which was officially confirmed in June.

Young’s return to Villa Park with a free transfer then ended, with the club keen to continue their activities in the weeks to come.

With that in mind, here is a summary of the latest news and speculation from Villa Park and the surrounding area:

Villa and Man City ‘open talks’ on Grealish transfer

Manchester City have reportedly opened talks with Villa over a move for Jack Grealish.

Grealish is a summer transfer target for City who are keen to strengthen their squad after losing the Champions League final to Chelsea last season.

Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur is also wanted by City boss Pep Guardiola, who is set to fight to land the two players this summer.

The Guardian, via transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, reported that negotiations have started between the two clubs with a decision expected to be taken “within days”.

Villa neither wants nor needs to sell Grealish, who is the key to billionaire club owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens and their aspirations for the club.

Grealish signed a new contract with Villa last year as Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for the player.

Villa receives green light for potential deal with Tuanzebe

Villa has been encouraged to sign Manchester United center-back Axel Tuanzebe on loan this summer.

Villa boss Dean Smith currently only has three first-team center-backs to choose from ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Following the departure of Belgian defender Bjorn Engels earlier this summer, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Kortney Hause are all vying for the starting positions.

Therefore, with limited options and the possibility of injury over the season, Smith has targeted Tuanzebe to keep Konsa and Mings on their toes next season.

Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed this week that the 23-year-old will be released after signing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

Solskjaer said of Tuanzebe’s future at Old Trafford: “Of course with Raphael coming in I can see Axel coming out. [on loan], because I have Varane, [Harry] Maguire, [Victor] Lindelof and Eric Bailly and Phil Jones return. “

Villa would ‘move’ to Cantwell if Grealish left

Villa owns an interest in Norwich City playmaker Todd Cantwell, according to reports.

The Eastern Daily Press reports that Villa would “move” to Cantwell if Jack Grealish moved to Manchester City this summer.

Villa already struck a deal with Norwich this summer, signing Buendia in a record deal worth around £ 33million.

Cantwell has been linked with Villa a few times and it has recently been claimed that the club are in ‘advanced talks’ over a £ 20million deal for the player.

The Eastern Daily Press reports that Villa general manager Christian Purslow and Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber cemented an already good relationship by the way the deal for Buendia was negotiated.

Cantwell still has a year on his contract at Norwich and the club have the option of adding an additional year.
