Influencer dives 160 feet to death “while filming video for her social media fans” – World News – .

A social media star dove to her death as she allegedly filmed herself from a crane.
Chinese influencer Xiao Qiumei, 23, worked as a crane operator and regularly shared videos of herself working with her thousands of followers.

But, witnesses claim that during the filming of her latest video, she fell about 160 feet with her phone in her hand and was killed in the crash.

Xiao is the second woman in China to die after allegedly filming herself.

Another social media star, Sofia Cheung, 32, from Hong Kong, died on July 10 while taking a selfie for her Instagram page next to a waterfall.

Xiao worked as a crane operator and shared videos of herself working

Sofia took a dip in Tsing Dai Creek near Yuen Long, Hong Kong, after spending the day with three friends at Ha Pak Lai Nature Park, as she attempted to capture an image to share with her 6,000 Instagram followers .

She had climbed to the top of the waterfall to take the photos when she lost her footing and fell into the water.

The mother of two, Xiao, had built up a huge online customer base of 100,000 who got a glimpse of her life working at the helm of a huge crane, reports The Sun.

In her latest video, she is speaking into a camera in what appears to be a crane cabin when the camera suddenly switches to blurry footage of equipment passing in front of the lens as Xiao apparently falls to around 160 feet.

But despite testimonies from people who saw the incident, her family has rejected reported details that they filmed the fall.

Eyewitnesses said Xiao fell to the ground with her phone in her hand at around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, after most of her colleagues left the site in Quzhou city, in China’s western Zhejiang province.

Her relatives, however, said that could not have been the case as Xiao was a professional in the field and left her cell phone in her bag during working hours.

Her family, however, confirmed that she died from a fall while completing a shift with the crane, but that her death was the result of an accident and not a stunt on the internet.

They explained that she simply missed a step and fell as a result.

The cute little social media star didn’t seem to fit the rugged image of a crane operator

The reason Xiao attracted social media followers so much was that she didn’t seem to fit the rugged image of a crane operator. She was small and attractive, with a baby face that made her look much younger than 23.

A funeral for the mother of two has already taken place with a cremation in accordance with local customs.
