Influencer dies from 160-foot fall while recording video – .

A 23-year-old woman has apparently become the second social media star in China to die in recent weeks while recording on camera.

Xiao Qiumei, 23, was a crane operator who shared videos of her career with an audience of 100,000 subscribers on social media.

In her latest video, she is speaking into a camera in what appears to be a crane cabin when the camera suddenly switches to blurry footage of equipment passing in front of the lens. Qiumei fell about 160 feet, according to reports.

Another social media influencer, Sofia Cheung, 32, from Hong Kong, died on July 10 while taking a selfie for Instagram next to a waterfall.

Eyewitnesses say Quimei fell to the ground with her phone in her hand at around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, after most of her colleagues left the site in Quzhou city, west China’s Zhejiang Province, according to The Sun. .

Part of Qiumei’s appeal to social media followers was that she didn’t seem to fit the rugged image of a crane operator. She was small and pretty and looked even younger than her stated 23 years old. She is said to have been the mother of two children.

Qiumei fell about 160 feet, according to reports.
