Paige VanZant didn’t get the result she wanted at BKFC 19, but that doesn’t mean she’s hiding from loss after falling to Rachael Ostovich by unanimous decision on Friday night.

The former UFC fighter fought with Ostovich over five rounds, but ended up on the wrong side of a judges decision, which counted for her second straight loss since signing a deal to switch to the competition with bare hands. As soon as the decision was read, VanZant left the ring as she walked backstage, visibly dejected by the result.

Less than a day later, VanZant is resilient in the face of all the criticism she faces for the loss while promising it’s just a speed bump on the road she takes on her journey through the combat sports.

“Guess which bitches ??? !! I’m still smiling !!! ” VanZant wrote on Instagram with some photos from his fight. “My story is full of setbacks, roadblocks and detours. But, it is also filled with major comebacks, peace in my soul, and a grace that saved my life. I promise you this, I will endure this pain every day of my life on the pain of regret.

“I will continue to pursue my dream one step at a time. 99.9% of the people on Earth wouldn’t dare to do what I do. This story will be even better than the first. And if you haven’t read my book yet, click the link in my bio. It’s a real pain. It’s just a bad chapter. And to all those who struggle. The pain is only a moment. The world may be dark and love to hate you, but darkness does not drive out darkness, only light can. So DON’T STOP SHINING !!!! ”

While the fight didn’t go his way, VanZant definitely came out of the gate shooting Ostovich as soon as the action started in the main event.

A slow start plagued VanZant on her debut against Great Britain’s Hart in February, but she had no nerves this time around. Unfortunately for her, Ostovich seemed more than ready for this strategy as she immediately began to retaliate with her own heavy shots as the fighters hit her for 10 minutes.

A quick glance at the photos released by VanZant shows the kind of damage his hands suffered during the war with Ostovich in five rounds.

Ultimately, Ostovich’s ability to land powerful punches, including an overhand right villain who continually marked VanZant throughout the fight, seemed like the difference in the end.

VanZant is now 0-2 at BKFC after signing a four-fight deal with the promotion to free agency following the end of her previous UFC contract, but it looks like she’s not getting discouraged as she continues her career. career.
