French street music festival kicks off amid strict Covid-19 restrictions – .

                Le 31e festival de musique de rue de France a débuté dans le sud-ouest de la France après un an d'annulations en raison de la pandémie de Covid-19.  Mais les mesures strictes de santé et de sécurité en place pour le festival – les participants sont tenus de fournir une preuve de vaccination ou un test PCR négatif – ont dissuadé de nombreuses personnes d'y assister.                                     <p>Le festival de musique de rue en France fait partie des événements culturels qui reprennent à travers le pays après un an d'annulations en raison de Covid-19.  Mais l'édition de cette année se déroule au milieu de mesures strictes de santé et de sécurité. 

“It has been particularly difficult this year because each volunteer must have their health passport vaccinated,” said Joëlle Lafitte, volunteer at the Musicalrue (street music).

Festival-goers must provide an up-to-date vaccination certificate or negative PCR test. Social distancing and wearing a mask are mandatory.

Some of the participants thought the rules were necessary.

“I thought maybe the measures were a little tight, but if that means we can have fun in peace, then it’s probably necessary,” said one participant.

But other attendees feared this year’s festival might not be on par with last year’s edition.

“Obviously we are now used to wearing masks,” said a young woman. “But it’s a little strange how few people there are here. A festival without a lot of people is not really a festival.
