An Essex man is furious that he had to cancel a holiday in France because of a government turnaround forcing people to self-quarantine for 10 days upon their return.
Bob Newman, of Holland on Sea, near Clacton, was looking forward to the trip with his friend, Dave Rathbone, on their Harley Davidson motorcycles which set out on July 27.
They were both excited to celebrate Freedom Day after so long in lockdown.
As they both suffered a double blow, they didn’t expect to have to self-isolate once back in the UK.
But the government says it should quarantine due to the increase in beta variant cases in France.
The government says public health remains its top priority.
