Katia Aveiro revealed she was hospitalized on her home island of Madeira in an Instagram post.
The 42-year-old singer is being treated at Dr Nelio Mendonca Hospital, the same place where Cristiano’s beloved mother was taken for emergency surgery after her stroke last year.
Katia, who is now based mostly in Brazil, shared a selfie of herself lying in her bed tied up on a trip.
Opening up on her ordeal, she wrote in the caption, “This is the last type of post I would like to write.
“I have tried not to do this the past few days, but as the news travels fast, and out of respect for those who follow me and take care of me and my loved ones, I will share with you the truth, I have got caught by this damn virus. I tested positive on July 17th and am isolating myself from home.
“I was fine with few symptoms and following the protocol.
“Everyone at home was away from mom and the videos I posted of where I was outside were taken before I tested positive.
“Unfortunately, last Friday I started to get worse. “
Admitting that she had caught pneumonia from the virus, she added: “I was admitted to the hospital and here I am, doing all I have to and healing thanks to God and thanks to the wonderful medical team here. . “
Last October, Katia made headlines after appearing to dismiss Cristiano’s coronavirus in a bizarre rant shared by Dolores.
She expressed her rage after it emerged that the Juventus forward had asked another lab to test him for Covid after two positive results at the lab used by the Portuguese FA.
Another out-of-lab test after her first positive result was reportedly inconclusive when she made her comments.
Katia later struck a quieter note by insisting she respects the coronavirus but claimed there were other illnesses and health issues that should be looked at in the same way.
“I really respect this virus and I would never say otherwise.
“But I do not agree to stop the world,” she said at the time.
“There are people who have stopped working, there are people who have psychological problems and people who feel suicidal.
“This too must be respected. I want everything to go back to normal and God protect us from human evil. ”
